– The Hugh Cudlipp lecture: Does journalism exist? | Alan Rusbridger | Media | guardian.co.uk
Many still make the distinction between new media and (old) media. It really is time to face up to realities and stop the artificial distinction.
Journalists have never before been able to tell stories so effectively, bouncing...

So true, so very true. Some might have to learn it the hard way though.
The phone is defined by the apps …

… says Eric Schmidt in a conversation with Jeff Jarvis. That’s so very true. It’s not all but it’s what really distinguishes one smartphone from another. The iPhone is great not only because of its design and great UI but because there are...
New York, I Love You →
Looks like I still have to wait some time before the DVD goes on sale. Love this kind of movie which is a collection of shortfilms centered around one topic or location.
2010 Trend: Sensors & Mobile Phones →
There will be a number of sensors which can be read from mobile phones. One sensor I ordered is the WakeMate.
I suppose earlier generations had to sit through all this huffing and puffing...
– How to Stop Worrying and Learn to Love the Internet
Great way to describe how adaptation to the Internet and new media is a generation thing.

122 hours of battery life would not be bad. That reader has the same screen size as the Kindle. There only has to be content. I suppose we really need some kind of standard for content. It has to be a standard comparable to say the DVD standard. Same as with DVD players consumers should have the choice which reader to buy, a cheap one with only basic features or an expensive one with extra...
By 2013, mobile phones will overtake PCs as the most common Web access device...
– Gartner Highlights Key Predictions for IT Organizations and Users in 2010 and Beyond
There will be definitely more smartphones and “browser-equipped enhanced phones” (great way to aptly name this class of devices!) by 2013. Here I fully agree. Owning a device with certain features...
JH AUDIO | Listen Up. →
In a post in a forum I read that Jerry Harvey who founded Ultimate Ears started a new company. Didn’t know that UE was bought by Logitech either.
JH Audio is less consumer focussed then UE but technically I suppose it’s the same technology or one very close.
Can the Skiff save the magazine industry? →
The Skiff certainly looks like it is the best e-ink reader to enter the market but I suppose it’s already too late. CES 2010 saw a number of new e-ink reader devices from various companies which hope to get a seat on the e-reader train which is steaming at an increasing speed to an uncertain destiny.
The moment that PixelQi and Mirasol enter the market the e-ink market is bound to...

That’s the trend thanks to miniaturization coupled with ongoing improvements in energy efficiency.
My top 5 CES trends
After following the coverage of CES for more than a day now some major trends become obvious to me. 2010 will be the year of smart phones, e-book readers, tablet devices, apps and web integration into TV sets.
The smart phone is not a phone. It’s a computer. It’s like your...
– “Smart Phone” is a Misnomer: It’s a Computer, not a Phone - ReadWriteEnterprise
I do agree here. If asked I do tell people it’s a computer that you can also use to make phone calls.
I think that the impatience that the users have with the response to their input...
– A quick sitdown with Motorola co-CEO Sanjay Jha — Engadget
It’s the same all over again same as with PCs. More demanding software (or OS) makes consumers buy new hardware. With mobile phones the purchasing cycle is accellerated to an even faster pace.
Those awaiting another iPhone-like revolution are in for disappointment. There...

Sounds great. Question only is when is it actually being pushed to other devices. I’d like to have it on my Motorola Milestone.
Wireless Sensors For A Better Life | Snowcrashing →
Looks like they are coming those sensors. I just preordered the wakemate which promises a wake-up tailored to one’s sleep patterns.
